Symbolism

The coat of arms of the city of Baranovichi is an intersected French shield, in the upper red field of which a golden locomotive is depicted, facing to the right, in the lower green – half a gear with nine teeth of the same metal.

The flag of the city of Baranovichi is a rectangular panel with an aspect ratio of 1:2, consisting of two horizontal equal stripes: the upper one is green and the lower one is red, in the center of the front side of which the coat of arms of the city of Baranovichi is depicted.

The official heraldic symbols – the coat of arms and the flag of the city of Baranovichi depict a golden steam locomotive, which serves as a symbol of the emergence and development of the city. The emergence of the city of Baranovichi is connected with the construction of the Moscow-Brest railway, which was opened in 1871. A settlement appeared around the station, numbering about 1.5 thousand inhabitants in the mid-1880s. The construction and further development of the railway was the impetus for the birth and development of the city. The gear on a green background symbolizes the modern development of industry in the city at the present time.

The projects of the coat of arms and flag were approved by the decision of the Baranovichi City Council of Deputies No. 144 on November 30, 2012 and have a positive conclusion of the heraldic examination.
